Max and Gidget - The Secret Life of Pets by BlueHedgehog1997 Max and Gidget - The Secret Life of Pets by BlueHedgehog1997
The 25 Days of deviantART, Day 14: Max and Gidget - The Secret Life of Pets.

Fresh off of me talking about Watership Down (the most brutal PG animated movie EVER!), let's dive right into much more light-hearted territory and talk about The Secret Life of Pets! In a Manhattan apartment building a Jack Russell Terrier named Max (pictured above in the right, voiced by Louis C.K. [Louie]) was his family's favorite pet. Unfortunately for him, though, his owner brings home a brown shaggy mongrel named Duke (voiced by Eric Stonestreet [Modern Family, Almost Famous]), which makes his title of "favorite pet" a lot harder to keep. Trying to reclaim this title, however, gets the two of them into various troubles and leads to them being sent to the pound. In the back of a truck they were sent to is a white rabbit named Snowball (voiced by Kevin Hart [a lot of fantastic stand-up, Ride Along 1 & 2, Top Five, Central Intelligence]), who is putting together an army of lost pets determined to get their revenge against everybody. Around the same time, Max's love interest, a white Pomeranian named Gidget (pictured above in the left, voiced by Jenny Slate [Zootopia, Star Vs. the Forces of Evil, Bob's Burgers, the soon-to-be-released The Lego Batman Movie]) finds out that Max and Duke are both missing, and she sets out to find both of them and head back home, while Max and Duke also find their way back home.

When I went to see The Peanuts Movie in the theater last year, this was one of the very few movies with a trailer in front of it that I had ANY interest in seeing (I walked into that theater while the trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip was playing... *shivers*), and watching the movie itself was a really fun experience! I love a good animated animal buddy comedy, and this did not disappoint! There's always something about the characters in this movie that make them a lot of fun to watch, especially Snowball and how far he goes to show how mad he is! (Hey, Social Justice Warriors, lookie here, we have a character that all of you can relate to! Isn't that all you've ever wanted?) It also has one of the strongest voice casts ever, not just with the ones I mentioned earlier, but also with Albert Brooks (Finding Nemo, Taxi Driver, Dr. Dolittle, The Little Prince), Steeve Coogan (Despicable Me 2 & Minions [both of which came from the same company as this movie], the Night at the Museum trilogy, Tropic Thunder), Lake Bell (Mr. Peabody and Sherman, BoJack Horseman, Prototype), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live, Inside Out, We Bare Bears), and even Dana Carvey (Wayne's World, Rick and Morty)! The animation is also top-notch, lending itself very well to the comedic moments (with pacing and timing that don't drag on as the movie plays) and giving a great sense of adventure (especially with the flight sequences involving Tiberius [Albert Brooks's character])! Heck, sometime in the future, I might even draw more characters from this movie like Snowball and Duke!

So, that's The Secret Life of Pets, A.K.A. the best way to follow up my drawing of a very bloodied Bigwig from Watership Down! Also another movie that I highly recommend! :D

The Secret Life of Pets is owned by Universal and Illumination Entertainment.
